Day 12 - Munising MI to Newberry MI

Today’s Miles: 60
Total: 585

Again, kind of a non-reportable day.  We were on highway 28 for the entire day.  In fact, there was a 25 mile stretch that was completely flat and completely straight.  It was crazy.  You could look down the road as far as you could see and the road just disappeared in the distance.  Traffic was pretty heavy but we still had a pretty decent shoulder.

I think the traffic is so heavy because of the Labor Day weekend.  In fact the campground we are staying at had no spaces left, so we are just out on this grassy hill.  For us it really doesn’t matter because we don’t need electricity except to charge stuff back up.

We are in Newberry back to camping.  I’ll go through the routine when we camp.  We get here and many times we stop and get a drink of something.  For me it is usually chocolate milk.  We many times get chips and salsa to take the edge off as well.  We will set up the tent and then get the cloths out that you are going to wear and head to the showers.  We have been lucky this trip to have some great showers. After the showers, we will make ourselves some dinner.  We have to stop in a town before we get here and buy the stuff we are going to cook and replenish the supplies for breakfast (oatmeal and bananas) and Lunch (PB&J).  After dinner we cleanup and do dishes and the day is about shot.  This crazy journal takes up too much time as well.

There are a ton of people camping here tonight. There are many that have just come to this field as well.  I’m sure that is all they have.

Stopped for a 2nd breakfast.

This is that straight road.
