Today’s Miles: 18
Total: 739
Well, true to my forecast last night, today was a pretty bad
weather day. It rained a little before
we got out of our tents this morning and then stopped and we thought we would
give things a try. The planned route
through Canada takes us off the most busy roads, but that is where we started,
on trans Canada highway 17. It was busy
again and we decided to get off on the planned route. No sooner did we do that and it started to
rain. The further we went, the harder it
rained. These routes do have some
gravel roads and today was the day that we had the most gravel roads. These roads were soaked pretty quickly and we
were riding in some pretty muddy circumstances. The gears on the bike were loaded with dirt and sand and
it sounded like the bike was tearing itself up.
We rode for about 20 miles and came to the first City and decided to
call it quits. We checked into a motel
and have everything laid out to dry. The
panniers seemed to keep the moisture out of the insides. That is good.
Anyway, not any good pictures. I
could have stopped and taken a picture of the muddy road, but I wasn’t in the
mood. 😁
One thing that is great. The motel that we are at is run by two gentlemen that are the cooks at the restaurant that is in the motel as well. The food is excellent. I had fish and chips for lunch and we have dinner coming up now and I can's wait to eat again.
Here’s hoping and praying tomorrow is better.
Dad! Sorry to hear about the bad weather. Is a day of rain and wind on the bike still better than a sunny day in the office? We're thinking of you and are enjoying the blog. Good luck tomorrow. Chris
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure about that. I do think there are times that I wonder why I chose to do this. But there are the days that I just absolutely love.
