Today’s Miles: 46
Total: 1,020
We broke the 1,000 mile mark today!! It was a wonderful ride as well. Little shorter on the miles, but we spent a
lot of time looking at this beautiful lake.
We have also been passing some very nice homes. There are cottages all along this lake. We couldn’t see many of the homes, but it was
fun to see the names of the cottages as we passed. There were some pretty clever names. Here are some great views of the lake today.
There is some money in the areas we have been going through. The cottages next to the lake are pretty old
buildings, but right across the street are the new homes being built and there
are some nice ones.
Stopped for a 2nd breakfast at Tim Horton’s. Then had lunch of bagel, turkey & cheese
along the way. Tonight we made burritos
for dinner.
We passed the world’s largest nuclear plant along our
route run by Bruce Power. It has 8 reactors
in it and it uses the lake to cool the place. I guess it is the biggest employer
in the area and much of the wealth of the people here come from that plant.
We are in Kincardine, Ontario. The place was named after the City in
Scotland and has very much a Scottish feel.
We were told that the street names even match those of the sister city
in Scotland. I guess during July and August, every weekend they have this drum
and bagpipe group play down main street.
And every night, some mystery bagpipe player gets atop the lighthouse
and plays as the sunsets. We missed all
that, but it would be fun to see.
Picture of the sunset here. Kind of cloudy. We have another chance of rain tomorrow.
