Day 16 - Iron Bridge to Masey, ON Canada– 9/4/19

Today’s Miles: 65
Total: 808

Back on the road today and the weather was just as we hoped; sunny skies and westerly winds. 😁 We rode on a mixture of roads and trails today.  They do have a Trans-Canada route plan that we are on, but it does use dirt trails and some trails that are used for four wheelers as well.  Four wheelers make a mess of the trails.  I think they are constantly goosing their machines and it just tears the trails up.  We were on one today and it was a little washed out from the rains that we have been having.  We were going down a hill and the gravel was loose and I got in the thick of the loose stuff and went down today.  I wasn’t going very fast and it was a pretty soft fall, but scraped up my leg just a bit.

Example of the gravel trails.  This one is in good shape.

We have been seeing some pretty river valleys and a view now and again of Lake Huron.  As we arrived in Massey, we needed to get some food to eat and stoped at Martin’s Country Market, which is the only market in this town.  Well, it turned out that it was an Amish/Mennonite market and there was not a name brand item for sale in the entire market.  It was just fresh produce and meats that they had raised and processed and their own bakery items.  Anyway, Nancy picked out some vegetables and some sausage and we had stir fry tonight. It was quite delicious.

View of the river today.

Our camp tonight.

Vegy dinner for tonight.  It was great.

Doing the laundry.  Must be done about every week to week and one-half.  Only so many cloths we are carrying.

We are in the Chutes Provincial Park currently doing some laundry.  They have a nice laundry facility, so we decided to make used of it.

  1. A crash!!? Dang, that's no good. Glad to hear it was minor. I guess you have to break in the bike eventually.
