Day 17 – Massey to Little Current, ON Canada– 9/5/19

Today’s Miles: 50
Total: 858

What a nice day of riding.  We started with riding along the Lee Valley Road and it was just beautiful.  There were rivers, farm places and farms.  We went past Amish food stands with great looking vegetables and bottled fruits.  It was just something that was different.

View of the river we followed for a bit.

Farms and farm ground

The Amish food stand.  It could be Mennonites as well??

We past through Espanola after 18 miles of riding and were ready for our second breakfast.  We ate at this place called Roger Rabbit.  It looked like a hole in the wall, but it was busy and the breakfast was wonderful.  Just had eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes chocolate milk and toast, and it was wonderful.  Just what my body needed.

We headed from there and were back into some pretty good hills.  Man, my legs felt tired.  I think it is this back to back days of riding.  I think I need a rest.  We past some beautiful lakes and rivers.  There are a ton of them.

We are currently in the town of Current River on Manitoulin Island. I didn’t even know this place existed.  It is the largest freshwater island in the world and is a place that people visit to cycle and especially come by very large boat to vacation.  I was out on the dock earlier looking at the huge boats that are parked in here. I imagine they are just touring the Great Lakes.

Just some nice pictures for the day.

The swinging bridge coming into Little Current.  It swings for 15 minutes on the hour to let boats through.

The hotel we are staying at.  We are on the 3rd floor and had to carry our stuff up the steps.  The legs were complaining abut that.

This is Manitoulin Island.  Have you ever heard of it?
